Studio Ghibli's theme park is finally opening to the public later this year.
If you're a fan of the magical worlds of Hayao Miyazaki, you're going to want to add the Ghibli Park to your itinerary the next time you visit Japan. Located in Aichi Earth Expo Memorial Park in Nagoya, the park will open its doors on 1 November 2022.
The attractions will feature the iconic architecture seen in the film and include Robot Soldier and Cat Bus at the Grand Warehouse (from Spirited Away), the World Emporium and antique shop at the Hill of Youth (inspired by Howl's Moving Castle and Whisper of the Heart), and Satsuki and Mei's house in Dondoko Forest (from My Neighbor Totoro).
Attractions inspired by Kiki's Delivery Service and Princess Mononoke will open at a later date in 2023.
According to the park's website, Ghibli Park won't have "big attractions or rides," but instead would be a place to "discover secrets while walking with your own feet and feeling the wind, leaving the forests and roads as they are."
