Hikaru Utada continues the genre-blurring legacy of their latest single with a dancefloor-ready remix from The Blessed Madonna, out now along with a vibrant new visualizer on YouTube.
'Mine or Yours (The Blessed Madonna’s GODSQUAD Mix)' reimagines the emotive original as a pulsing house anthem, paying tribute to the late Chicago legend Paul Johnson. “I literally said, ‘what would Paul Johnson do if he sampled this?’” shared The Blessed Madonna. “As De La Soul said: I flipped it on 45 so you can dance to it. And I love this record. And so does every dance floor I have played it on.”
The track arrives just weeks after Yaeji’s remix of 'Mine or Yours', which shot to #1 on Japan’s iTunes Dance Chart. Both versions bring fresh energy ahead of the track’s vinyl release on 26 November, and extend the life of a song that’s already captivated audiences through a viral THE FIRST TAKE performance and its sync in a national Ayataka green tea campaign.
Directed by Kazuki Gotanda, the new visualizer for the remix pairs the track’s hypnotic energy with kaleidoscopic digital art, adding another dimension to the listening experience.
