The Asia-Pacific Drummer Competition is back for its fourth run this year.
Presented by the 6th Hong Kong International Drummer Festival, the competition endeavors to forge links between drummers of all ages across the Asia-Pacific region. It comprises four different categories – the Hong Kong Young Drumset Category, the Asia Pacific Professional Drumset Category, the Asia Pacific Professional Snare Category, and the Asia Pacific Drum Duet Category.
The finalists this year hail from different parts of Asia-Pacific, including cities like Bangkok, Beijing, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Tianjin, and more. Catch their submissions for the competition below.
The 2021 Asia-Pacific Drummer Competition also boasts a distinguished panel of judges from across the globe, including countries like Germany, the Philippines, the United States, and more.
This year's online competition will culminate in an awards ceremony broadcast on 31 October at 7 PM HKT/SGT/PHT. The awards ceremony will be made available on HKDrumFest's YouTube channel, featuring the finalists and judges from Hong Kong in a pre-filmed in-person ceremony on 30 October. Finalists and judges from other parts of Asia-Pacific will attend the show virtually.

The winners of this year's competition will walk away with prizes worth more than HKD180,000 ( approx. SGD31,100/PHP1,171,000). Prizes include vouchers from Tom Lee Music, Zildjian, and Remo, as well as accessories from Sennheiser. They will also be given the opportunity to take part in drumming classes and sessions.
