HyunA gave fans a scare over the weekend after collapsing on stage during her set at WATERBOMB MACAO on 9 November.

The K-pop star was midway through performing her hit ‘Bubble Pop’ when she suddenly fainted and was quickly assisted off stage by dancers and staff. Footage from the event quickly made rounds on social media, sparking concern among fans worldwide.

Shortly after the incident, HyunA took to Instagram to address the situation with a heartfelt message. Accompanied by a black square, she wrote, “I’m really, really sorry… To be honest, I don’t remember anything. I’ll work on building up my stamina and keep working hard… And I’m really okay! Don’t worry about me!”

She also extended her apologies to fans who attended the event in Macau, saying she felt regretful for not being able to deliver a full performance.

Health concerns and extreme dieting

In the weeks leading up to the festival, HyunA had publicly shared that she lost approximately 10kg in one month, dropping to around 49kg, after beginning an intensive diet in October. She even mentioned the challenge of “changing the first digit” of her weight, adding that it was one of the hardest things she had done.

While no official medical diagnosis has been shared, the sudden collapse has sparked conversations among fans and commentators about the toll of rapid weight loss and physical exhaustion on idols. It’s not the first time HyunA has spoken candidly about health struggles—she previously shared experiences of health issues when her weight dropped to as low as 40kg.

Some industry insiders have since raised concerns about the dangers of extreme dieting in K-pop, warning that the pressure to maintain certain appearances can come at a serious cost.
