KIRARA has teamed up with Hyundai Motor Group for 'Temper', a new electronic track that transforms automotive manufacturing technology into sound.
The track takes inspiration from the process of turning raw materials into finished vehicles. Its Korean title, 'Jeongryeon' (정련), refers to refining materials by removing impurities to reveal their purest form.
KIRARA translates that process through ambient techno, glitch, and breakbeat elements. 'Temper' begins with a mysterious, atmospheric introduction before gradually building with layered beats and synthesized textures, eventually arriving at a clearer, crystalline finish.
"Working on Hyundai Motor Group's new technology was a constant source of wonder, much like when I first learned synthesizing," shared KIRARA. "I wanted to express the refined technology and the feeling I had when encountering it through equally refined music."
The Korean electronic musician has been active since 2014, with five studio albums to her name. She has also performed at Pentaport Rock Festival, the Venice Biennale, SXSW, and Primavera Pro. Her fifth studio album, KIRARA, recently won Best Electronic Album at the 23rd Korean Music Awards, marking her second win in the category after Moves in 2017.
'Temper' is available now on Melon, Bugs, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Hyundai Motor Group's official YouTube channel. An accompanying manufacturing technology video featuring the track is set to arrive later this year.
