Wong Kar Wai’s timeless masterpiece In The Mood For Love is set to return in an entirely new form this October, as In The Mood For Love In Concert brings the beloved film to life with a live symphony orchestra performing its iconic score in perfect synchronisation with the big screen.
The cinematic-concert experience will take place at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands on 24 and 25 October. Audiences can expect a fully restored full HD screening of the 2000s classic, elevated by a live orchestral performance of Shigeru Umebayashi’s emotionally resonant soundtrack.

Renowned for its poetic storytelling, sumptuous visuals, and dreamlike atmosphere, In The Mood For Love follows the tender and bittersweet connection between a man, played by Tony Leung, and a woman, portrayed by Maggie Cheung, who discover their respective spouses are having an affair. As they navigate loneliness and restraint, an intimate bond slowly forms, capturing romance in its quiet intensity.
The concert will feature the BASE Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Singapore’s internationally acclaimed conductor Joshua Tan. A graduate of The Juilliard School and the Eastman School of Music, and recipient of Singapore’s Young Artist Award, Tan is celebrated for his versatility across symphonic, operatic, ballet, film, and multimedia repertoire. He has conducted orchestras including the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.

Chief Executive Officer of Base Entertainment Asia, Chantal Prudhomme, shared that the production reveals new emotional depth through the power of live music, celebrating the award-winning performances of Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung while offering audiences a fresh way to experience Wong Kar Wai’s masterpiece.
Described by Wong Kar Wai as “a poem itself,” the film’s score will be rendered live with sensitivity and precision, weaving together fashion, music, colour, light, and form into an immersive experience.
