Japanese singer-songwriter Centimillimental has joined forces with Indonesian singer-songwriter Arash Buana for 'madoromi', an intimate ballad born from a chance studio session.

Released on 19 August, the track marks Centimillimental's first-ever collaboration release and arrives alongside a music video filmed during the pair's recording sessions in Indonesia.

Written and composed by both artists, 'madoromi' captures the hazy space between sleep and wakefulness, tracing feelings that surface in the quiet of the night. Their voices meet over a dreamy soundscape, reflecting the natural chemistry that first brought the song together.

The collaboration began after Centimillimental met Buana during his Asia tour in 2025. What started without plans to make or release a song quickly developed into 'madoromi.'

"When we met, talked about various things, and I listened to some of his songs, I felt that we shared similar ideas and certain commonalities in our musical sensibilities," Centimillimental shared.

"As we continued our studio sessions, occasionally talking along the way, before we knew it, we had created a song. That song was 'madoromi.'"

For Buana, that connection was almost immediate. The Indonesian artist revealed that the track's main melody and foundation came together within the first 15 to 30 minutes of their session.

"We weren't overthinking things or trying to force the song into a particular shape. We simply decided to let things unfold naturally," he said.

Despite not sharing the same first language, the two found common ground in the studio. "It reminded me once again that there are moments when you can communicate even when you don't speak the same language," Buana added. "I feel that the music itself became our language."

Fans in Jakarta received an early taste of the collaboration in July, when Buana made a surprise appearance at Centimillimental's show in the Indonesian capital for the pair's first-ever live performance of 'madoromi.'

The song's accompanying music video brings listeners even closer to its beginnings, featuring footage of Centimillimental and Buana creating and recording the track together in Indonesia.

For his first collaboration release, Centimillimental hopes 'madoromi' finds listeners in exactly the kind of quiet moment that inspired it.

"I hope you'll listen to this song while drifting into that hazy state before falling asleep, thinking of someone important to you," he shared.
