Rising Indonesian math rock trio The Polar Bears break onto the scene with their debut album Threadbare — documenting their personal journeys, capturing the ups and downs of life.
Drawing on their personal experiences ranging from heartbreak, to the hurdles they faced with progressing through different stages of life, to the eventual step inward they took to reflect and take each challenge in their stride, this album proves to be a sort of comfort for fans who resonate with the themes.

Lead vocalist Reffyga talks about the inspiration behind the album and how the self reflection presents itself in the lyrics and the music as he expresses, "In our mid-20s, we feel that life requires going through ups and downs to develop a mature personality. We've poured all of that into the album Threadbare, from our personal perspective."
Produced by guitarist Yudhistiro Lilo Pambudi, each track on the 10-song tracklist takes listeners through a soulful expedition to guide them through the adversities that life brings. The impactful and deep lyrics that really reach the hearts of listeners, woven with the addictive melodies and passionate vocals that send the message across effectively.
Lilo explains how this record is incredibly personal to them as he muses, "This album was produced independently and through long-distance communication in our home studio and at the MCC studio. We've been working on it since 2024 until it was finally released in September 2025." Drummer Marcell adds, "We are aware that producing this album requires resources that are not cheap, so we shared the task of producing parts of this album at our respective homes using a home recording approach."
