Space, cinema, and the music of Hans Zimmer are coming together for a special screening of Interstellar in Singapore.
Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi epic will return to the big screen as Interstellar – Live on 31 October, bringing the complete film to The Star Theatre alongside a live performance of Zimmer’s acclaimed score. The music will be performed by the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, conducted by Martin Gellner, with Charles Andrews on organ.
Released in 2014, Interstellar follows former NASA pilot Cooper, played by Matthew McConaughey, as he leaves his family behind to lead a mission beyond the galaxy in search of a new home for humanity. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Jessica Chastain, and Casey Affleck.
The film received five Academy Award nominations, including Best Original Score, and took home the award for Best Visual Effects. Zimmer’s score has since become closely associated with the film’s emotional and cosmic scale, accompanying everything from Cooper’s relationship with his children to the crew’s journey across distant worlds.
For Interstellar – Live, audiences will be able to revisit Nolan’s film with the orchestra and organ bringing its soundtrack to life in real time. The experience will run for approximately 200 minutes, including a 20-minute intermission.
