It's A Block Party with Sound Steady Saturday

ESTIMATED

If you're alone on Valentine's Day, feeling ever so emotional and decided not to get tickets to The Gathering, not to worry. For something a little more alternative, there's Sound Steady Saturday for you, a local festival that stomps out everything romantic, mushy and Hallmark-esque, happening in the Haji Lane/Aliwal arts precinct.

BANDWAGON TV

Tread noisy ground and broaden your sonic palette with some Oi! music by way of The Bois, Vedic metal of Rudra, the punk rock of Iman's League, metal band Opposition Party, experimental-noise rock with The Psalms and hardcore outfit from the 90s, LC93. Not just for the hard hitters, this festival also features other genres like ska, experimental and DJs who will also be spinning some reggae and dancehall tunes.

For the lovers of music and art who are interested in learning the local music scene or checking out local artwork, pop by the Museum of Independent Music (MOIM) or Independent Archives & Resource Centre (IARC) for your cultural fix. There you can briefly learn how the local music scene grew or take a look at old event and gig posters.

All are invited to this block party, bring your +1 or +10, or lack of (it's okay) to skank, dance, watch, sing, listen and look all day on Saturday.
