ITZY are back with new music, and this one is for MIDZY.
The K-pop girl group have released their 12th EP, Motto alongside a music video for its title track. Arriving six months after Tunnel Vision, the new record sees Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna looking back on seven years with their fans — and turning that bond into the heart of the project.
“With Motto, I wanted to thank MIDZY for staying with us, for being the biggest part of who we are, and show that they are our motto,” said Yeji. She added that listening to the title track makes her think of both MIDZY and her fellow members, calling it a song that represents the bond between them.
The music video for 'Motto' brings that message to life through surrealist visuals, as ITZY sing about feeling confident and encouraged through their connection with fans.
“I hope the message of "I choose myself," instead of doubting yourself in everyday situations, gets relayed to the listeners,” Lia shares. “I personally have gotten better with marching forward by trusting myself and my motto.”
Yuna also reflected on the group’s journey, saying that preparing for Motto gave her the chance to look back on the past seven years. “I could really feel that MIDZY was at the center of my journey. They helped me make the right decisions, acting like a lighthouse,” she said.
The EP features three group tracks — 'Motto', 'Glitch', and 'you And I' — as well as solo songs from each member: Yeji’s 'Pocket', Lia’s 'Asylum', Ryujin’s 'Look', Chaeryeong’s 'Undefined', and Yuna’s 'Tangerine'. The solo tracks have also been featured on the group’s ongoing Tunnel Vision world tour.
ITZY kicked off the tour in Seoul in February, before bringing it to Australia and Japan. The group are set to continue the tour in Hong Kong on 29 June, followed by stops in Taiwan, Thailand, and the Philippines.
