Over the weekend, Berdendang Bergoyang was halted due to safety concerns.
The Jakarta-based music festival was initially set to run for three days, from 28 to 30 October, but was cut short due to overcrowding. Police were sent to shut down the event on Day 2 after receiving multiple reports of attendees fainting. The festival was said to have drawn a crowd of over 21,000, exceeding the venue's capacity of 10,000.
According to the Jakarta Metro Police, the festival organisers were initially granted a capacity of 5,000 and are now under investigation whether they deliberately printed more tickets than what the venue could hold. According to media reports, there was also only one medic tent available for attendees across five stages of the festival.
Refunds are currently being sorted out for ticket holders for the second day and third day of the festival.
Intended to be Berdendang Bergoyang's 4th edition, the festival's lineup featured the likes of Pamungkas, .Feast, Tulus, Isyana Sarasvati, and more.
