Japanese singer-songwriter Ayaka has released her first digital single of 2025, ‘Versailles’.
The single is the theme for the animated feature film The Rose of Versailles, released theatrically in Japan on Friday, 31 Januar. The song was written by Ayaka especially for the film, with the singer’s incredible vocals and sense of melody adding new colour to the movie’s unique atmosphere.
Ayaka shares, “I wrote this song while immersing myself in the world of the series.”
The animated film based on Riyoko Ikeda’s masterpiece manga series depicting the lives and loves of characters struggling to survive in Revolutionary France.
An animated lyric video using footage from The Rose of Versailles was also released.
