Jay Chou and Universal Music Group's (UMG) Universal Music Greater China (UMGC) division have entered a global strategic partnership.
In an announcement on 6 December, UMGC revealed as part of the partnership, it will now market and distribute Chou's existing music releases and future material internationally.
It will also support the development of up-and-coming artists, such as Patrick Brasca and Young (Cao Yang), from JVR Music, a record label that was founded by the Mandopop superstar alongside Vincent Fang and JR Yang in 2007.

Through its global publishing arm, Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), UMG has published works from Chou and JVR Music internationally since 2013, and this new global strategic partnership will expand its existing relationship with the '安静 (Silence)' act and his label.
“Aligning with UMG in this strategic partnership, marks a new chapter for Jay and JVR towards our vision of elevating Mandarin pop music globally. Leveraging UMG’s extensive global network enables us to amplify Jay’s artistic impact and the diversity of our artist roster on a global scale. We are excited about harnessing this alliance to transcend cultural boundaries and cement the international presence of our unique musical heritage,” said JVR Music's Chief Executive Officer, JR Yang.

Known as the "King of Mandopop", Chou's presence in the UMG lineup is said to emphasize the multinational music corporation's "commitment to elevating Mandopop music on the international stage".
“It is with immense pride and excitement that we welcome Jay Chou, an icon of our times, into the Universal Music family. This partnership is more than a milestone for us; it’s a celebration of Jay's extraordinary artistry and global appeal. We are deeply honored to be entrusted with his musical legacy and are eager to help showcase his remarkable talent to a broader global audience," Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Universal Music Greater China, Timothy Xu, said.
