After putting out an album The Search For Everything last year, John Mayer has returned with a new song titled 'New Light'.

Interestingly, the song was produced by No ID, the legendary hip-hop producer who's worked with Kanye West, Vince Staples and most notably, Jay-Z on 4:44.

Similar to 'Love on the Weekend', 'New Light' is more vapourwavy than the casual listener might expect from Mayer, and the lyrics more hip and youthful than one might expect from the 40-year-old behind 'Slow Dancing in a Burning Room':

I’m the boy in your other phone / Lighting up inside your drawer at home all alone / Pushin 40 in the friend zone

It does, however, feature Mayer's signature wandering guitar lines, so fans should be satisfied.
