Joji is officially back in his feelings. The alternative R&B trailblazer has announced his upcoming album PISS IN THE WIND, set to drop on 6 February, and teased what’s to come with a brand-new single, ‘If It Only Gets Better’, out now alongside a cinematic new visual.
Serving as the emotional centerpiece of the album rollout, ‘If It Only Gets Better’ is a moody return to Joji’s lo-fi roots — delicate acoustic guitar lines paired with pulsing bass and melancholic harmonies. Directed by longtime collaborator James Mao, the video leans into late-night nostalgia, mirroring the aching simplicity of early hits like ‘YEAH RIGHT’ but with a glossier, more surreal edge.
The track follows the surprise release of ‘PIXELATED KISSES’, which already made waves by landing spots on the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard 200, and Pop charts, marking Joji’s triumphant return since 2022’s SMITHEREENS — the album that gave us the viral hit ‘Glimpse of Us’.
PISS IN THE WIND promises to fuse Joji’s introspective songwriting with cinematic production — “balancing melancholic, brooding writing with gritty yet atmospheric production,” according to the official announcement.
The album is now available to pre-save and pre-order on CD, LP, and cassette.
