Joyland Sessions is making its smashing debut with an incredible lineup that is set to blow fans away. The bill consists of artists playing genres ranging from dream pop to indie rock. Taking place on 29 to 30 November at GBK City Park, Joyland Sessions is a scaled-down and more intimate version of Joyland Festival, which is on hiatus this year.

Program Director for Joyland Sessions, Ferry Dermawan, expresses how carrying the joy of music on a smaller scale than usual, helps fill void in the absence of Joyland Festival this year. “Joyland Sessions is not the same as Joyland Festival. The scale is very different, and it wouldn’t be fair to treat them as the same event, which is why we fully refunded Joyland Festival ticket buyers. Joyland Sessions is something new we created after the refund process, so this year doesn’t pass by without sharing a piece of Joyland with you.”

The first-ever installment of Joyland Sessions boasts a stellar roster of artists across the two days — starting off with a bang with French pop and nu-disco group L’Imperatrice headlining Day 1, joined by American indie-rock group Bright Eyes. Returning to Jakarta for the first time in 13 years, with their last appearance having been in 2012, is Kip Berman’s revived New York indie-pop combo The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, together with Indonesian pop singer-songwriter Bernadya. Also on the bill are indie rock quartet Jirapah, electrifying R&B duo Galdive, and Indonesian indie pop collective The Cottons.

Carrying the absolutely immaculate vibes of Day 1 into Day 2 is dreamy indie pop collective TV Girl, alongside an appearance by American singer-songwriter Soccer Mommy, who is ready to serve her signature alt-indie jams. Also joining the roster is Canadian electronic artist Luna Li, appearing with American rapper and producer Oddisee with his live backing band Good Compny. Also sharing the stage with these acclaimed international acts will be a trio of local talents such as Arabia-tinged funk squad Ali, romantic indie rockers Reality Club, and Surabaya connoisseurs of soul, Thee Marloes.

Although the inaugural Joyland Sessions is not as extravagant as the usual Joyland Festival that spans three days instead of two, over multiple stages while spotlighting local Indonesian businesses, does not mean that Joyland Sessions will be compromising on the quality that audiences expect from the event.

This new era with Joyland Sessions presents music lovers with a more personal and close-knit setting to enjoy music among good vibes and an amazing atmosphere. Click here ticketing information and more about Joyland Sessions.
