Julian Casablancas to curate the sound of Opera Gallery’s 'The Singapore Masters Show 2026'

Julian Casablancas is bringing his musical perspective into the art world.

The 2 October opening of The Singapore Masters Show 2026 will see the The Strokes and The Voidz frontman take on the role of Sound Curator for Opera Gallery Singapore’s upcoming exhibition.

Running until 1 November, The Singapore Masters Show 2026 will bring together more than 30 works by leading modern and contemporary artists, including Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Willem de Kooning, Marc Chagall, and Banksy.

For the exhibition, Casablancas will curate a series of playlists inspired by its four thematic chapters: the Classical Recital Room, Jazz Club, Recording Studio, and The Stage.

Instead of pairing specific songs with individual artworks, the playlists will evoke the wider cultural environments and creative exchanges that have influenced different generations of artists. The exhibition similarly looks beyond the artworks themselves to explore how music, ideas, people, and other artistic disciplines have intersected across generations.

“Art has always existed within a larger cultural landscape, and music is an important part of that landscape,” said Stéphane Le Pelletier, Director of Opera Gallery Singapore. “Julian brings a distinctive perspective to the exhibition, allowing us to explore these connections from another point of view while keeping the artworks at the centre.”
