Kate Bush has achieved her first-ever top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.

The 1985 new wave classic re-entered the Hot 100 at number 8, marking the first top 10 hit in the United States for the English singer-songwriter. It has also re-charted in the top 10 in United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland.

The song continues to gain traction on streaming services, peaking at number one on the Spotify Global chart on 7 June, displacing 'As It Was' by Harry Styles.

The song's resurgence follows its prominent use in the new season of Netflix hit series Stranger Things. The needle drop happens when one of the show’s main characters, Max, escapes the grasp of Vecna, the monstrous antagonist, by listening to her favourite song.

The unlikely success of 'Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)' among the young audiences of Stranger Things has sparked a huge talking point among Bush's older listeners.

While some fans were more skeptical, others are elated that Bush is gaining an entirely new generation of fans.

With the explosive success of Bush on streaming platforms, a user pointed out the hilarious irony of the 1985 classic appearing on Spotify's Pop Rising playlist.

There is also a viral trend where users share songs that would save them from Vecna, including a comical tweet by mxmtoon.

Netflix has since published a statement by Bush herself, where she shares her excitement about the song's renewed popularity and declares her love for Stranger Things.

The last two episodes of season 4 of Stranger Things will be released on 1 July
