KATSEYE's Sophia Laforteza will sit out the European and UK leg of THE WILDWORLD TOUR as she continues to focus on her health and well-being.
In an update shared on 30 August, HYBE x Geffen Records confirmed that the Filipina singer will not participate in the group's upcoming shows from 1 to 17 September.
"Sophia is focusing on her well-being, and the company remains fully committed to providing her with all the support and resources needed," the label shared.
"We sincerely ask for EYEKONS' warm understanding, as our highest priority will always be the health and long-term well-being of our artists," the statement continued. "We will share further updates as they become available. Please continue to send your love, warmth, and support to Sophia and KATSEYE."
Sophia later addressed EYEKONS herself via Instagram Stories, sharing that while she wanted to join her bandmates on tour, she needed to put her health first.
"I can't express enough how much i want to participate in this tour and perform for you all," she wrote, before adding that she has to remind herself that her health and mental well-being should come first.
The 23-year-old also shared that she has been undergoing "ongoing treatment" and doing what she can to remain healthy, occupied, and happy during her break.
"You can't pour from an empty cup," Sophia wrote.
She went on to express her gratitude to EYEKONS for their support and asked fans to continue supporting the rest of KATSEYE while she recovers.
Sophia's absence from the European and UK shows follows the announcement of her temporary hiatus earlier in August. At the time, HYBE x Geffen Records said she would step back from promotional activities to focus on her physical and mental health.
According to the label, medical professionals advised Sophia to take "dedicated time for extended rest and ongoing care to ensure a full recovery," with her health set to be reassessed in September.
Her fellow KATSEYE members have also publicly expressed their support for Sophia, as well as Manon Bannerman, who has been on hiatus since February.
"As KATSEYE, it's so important to us to always prioritize our well-being," Lara Raj told reporters following the group's performance on 14 August. "We stand by Sophia and Manon through and through. We ride for them."
"We love you guys so much, always," she added.
Further updates on Sophia's activities are expected as her recovery continues.
