The FIFA World Cup 2026 officially kicked off on 12 June, and the United States' opening ceremony brought together some of music's biggest global stars ahead of the tournament's first match between the US and Paraguay.
Taking place across 16 host cities in Canada, Mexico, and the United States, this year's edition marks the first time the FIFA World Cup has been co-hosted by three countries.

Before kickoff, Future and Tyla opened the festivities with a performance of 'Game Time' from the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album. The pair took to the stage shortly after the World Cup trophy was presented on the field, with Tyla joining Future to deliver her verse from the track.
The celebration continued with BLACKPINK's LISA, Anitta, and Rema, who teamed up to perform 'Goals', another standout cut from the tournament's official soundtrack. The cross-continental collaboration brought together three of the biggest names in pop, Afrobeats, and Latin music for one of the ceremony's most anticipated moments.

Closing out the musical showcase was Katy Perry, who performed 'Wonder' alongside 10-year-old Norwegian singer Tius Luka. The song appears on Perry's latest album, 143.
Ahead of the performance, Perry shared the story behind the collaboration on Instagram, revealing that Luka first recorded his vocals for the track in 2021 when he was just five years old.

"I heard his vocal in 2023 and was inspired to write the verses for 'Wonder' and added it to my sixth album," Perry wrote. "Tius is 10 now and flew all the way to LA from Norway to sing this song with me."
