Kenshi Yonezu and Hikaru Utada have finally teamed up — and it’s for one of the year’s most anticipated anime films.

The two icons have released their first-ever collaboration JANE DOE, the ending theme for Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc. Written and composed by Yonezu, with Utada’s unmistakable vocals weaving through the track, the song is now available on all streaming platforms.

Accompanying the release is the official music video, directed by Tomokazu Yamada, who has helmed visuals for Yonezu’s ‘Lemon’ and Utada’s ‘Mine or Yours.’ The cinematic video shows the two artists dressed in black on a train station platform, depicting the fleeting yet magnetic pull between strangers whose paths cross only briefly.

“The moment Utada-san’s voice—melancholic, yet sweeping like a gust of wind—came in over the track, I remember being so moved that I let out a sharp gasp,” Yonezu shared.

Utada added, “I hope everyone can feel the new sides that were brought out in us, as we remained true to ourselves and each other.”

The collaboration follows a massive run for Yonezu. Earlier this month, he released the film’s opening theme ‘IRIS OUT,’ which broke Spotify Japan’s daily streaming record with over 901K plays in a single day and has already surpassed 10 million YouTube views. His Chainsaw Man TV theme ‘KICK BACK’ also made history as the first-ever Japanese-language song to go RIAA Platinum.

Meanwhile, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc opened in Japan on 19 September, topping the weekend box office and surpassing even Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. The film hits US theatres on 24 October via Sony Pictures Entertainment, with releases planned across 50+ countries.
