KISS OF LIFE are kickstarting a new chapter in their musical evolution with the release of their fourth mini album 224. The EP’s title stands for “today, tomorrow and forever,” according to the group’s agency S2 Entertainment.
224 is striking stylistic departure for the K-pop group, led by slower 2000s-style R&B elements, as highlighted by its lead single 'Lips Hips and Kiss'.
“For this summer, we wanted to show a different kind of hotness,” said Natty during a press showcase in Seoul.
“We wanted to deliver something unexpected for a summer song,” added Julie. "It is a new challenge for us, but we wanted to show what KISS OF LIFE is capable of.”
“This album is about a journey of self-discovery represented through the flow of time,” explained Belle. “It tells a story of oneself liberated from suppression, who finds their true self, and delivers a message for those who feel lost.”
'Lips Hips and Kiss' also comes accompanied by slick sci-fi themed music video.
Beyond the title track, 224 also features six other tunes such as an Afrobeat and house fusion in 'Tell Me', the Y2K-inspired 'k bye', and 'Painting', which conveys the excitement of a summer day. Other songs include 'Slide', 'Heart of Gold' and 'Think Twice'.
