Bangkok-based duo KMONRAFIQ — made up of Thai artist Kmonvish Lawan and Malaysian musician Rafiq Ridzwan — channel emotional healing through lush art pop on their new single ‘Best Friend’.
Created over several months in their Bangkok studio and completed in Kuala Lumpur, the track fuses a calming chant, a pentatonic guitar melody, and modern beats into a soundscape that’s both relaxing and deeply melodic. At its heart is a mantra meant to soothe and empower: “No matter what, I am my own best friend.”

Lyrically, the song unfolds like a personal reckoning — from the self-critical “Aren’t you here to ruin me again?” to the vulnerable admission “It all just seems so scary,” and ultimately to self-acceptance with the closing line: “I’m my best friend.”
“We know it’s easy to blame yourself for everything… it’s normal to hate yourself,” KMONRAFIQ share. “This song goes through the journey from hating yourself to loving yourself.”
With its meditative chants and emotional arc, ‘Best Friend’ is a sonic safe space — an invitation to heal, connect, and befriend the self.
