Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is serving up something strange and sweet.

The Japanese pop artist has released 'Pang Pang Pang', a new single produced by longtime collaborator Yasutaka Nakata, alongside a music video that takes her into a colourful, surreal kitchen.

Out now via ASOBISYSTEM, the track serves as the ending theme for the anime Pan Dorobo, adapted from the picture book series that has sold more than 5.5 million copies in Japan. Its repeated hook and heavy electronic beats accompany a release marking Kyary’s 15th anniversary as an artist.

For the video, Kyary reunites with Jun Tamukai, the director behind her debut 'PONPONPON'. Their 17th collaboration follows Kyary and her doughy companion Kiji-kun, or Dough Boy, as they make bread in a retro kitchen, matching their movements to the music amid playful, surreal staging.

Fans who have followed Kyary since the beginning will also find nods to 'PONPONPON' tucked into the video.

“This MV is a slightly strange and cute story where I make delicious bread together with Kiji-kun!” Kyary shares. “Director Tamukai and I have been creating works together since my debut song ‘PONPONPON,’ and we were able to make another fun MV this time as well.”

“Since it’s my 15th anniversary, I’ve snuck in some staging that will remind you of ‘PONPONPON,’ so please go looking for it! I’d be happy if you also paid attention to the dance with Kiji-kun set to the music!”

Before bringing Harajuku’s kawaii aesthetic to international audiences, Kyary began as a teenage model and blogger in the neighbourhood’s street-fashion scene, appearing in magazines including KERA and Zipper. Her 2011 debut 'PONPONPON' introduced her distinctive visual world to music fans, with its video since surpassing 214 million YouTube views.

She is preparing to release her sixth album in 2027.
