Singapore's homegrown acts could find themselves sharing the stage with some of alternative music's biggest names this December.
LAMC Presents has launched Big Night Out: Battle of the Stage, a contest for Singaporean artists to compete for the chance to open for Two Door Cinema Club, Wolf Alice, or Slowdive at their respective shows at Fort Canning Park. Each winning act will also receive a S$500 cash prize.
The competition is open to eligible Singaporean artists aged 18 and above, with three categories corresponding to each headliner. Entrants will have to submit a one-minute cover of one of the following songs:
- Two Door Cinema Club: 'What You Know' or 'Undercover Martyn'
- Wolf Alice: 'Don't Delete the Kisses' or 'Bloom Baby Bloom'
- Slowdive: 'When the Sun Hits' or 'Dagger'

Entries must be posted on Instagram with @lamcpresents tagged and the relevant #BigNightOut_TDCC, #BigNightOut_WolfAlice, or #BigNightOut_Slowdive hashtag. Artists must also complete the submission form on the LAMC Presents website to be eligible.
Following the submission period, LAMC Presents will shortlist eligible entries for an online public vote, where audiences will vote based on each act's cover as well as a featured original song. The top three acts in each category will then be presented to the respective headliners, with Two Door Cinema Club, Wolf Alice, and Slowdive personally selecting their opening acts.
Submissions are open now and close on 13 October at 11:59 PM SGT. Online voting will run from 19 to 23 October, with the top three finalists announced on 26 October. The winning opening acts will be revealed at a later date.
The competition leads into three Big Night Out shows at Fort Canning Park. Two Door Cinema Club will bring their 15th Anniversary Tour to Singapore on 4 December, followed by Wolf Alice with ivri on 10 December, and Slowdive on 12 December.
