Filipino theatre icon Lea Salonga is heading back to the world of Les Misérables — but this time, in a brand new role.
The multi-award-winning actress and singer has been announced as Madame Thénardier in the Les Misérables The Arena Spectacular, set to run in Singapore from 24 March to 10 May at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands.
For longtime fans, this casting marks a full-circle moment. Salonga has previously taken on the roles of Éponine and Fantine in the legendary musical, including appearances in its landmark 10th and 25th anniversary concerts. Now, she steps into one of the show’s most mischievous and scene-stealing characters.

She joins an already stacked international cast, including Gerónimo Rauch as Jean Valjean, Jeremy Secomb as Javert, and Red Concepción as Thénardier, alongside Singaporean talent Nathania Ong as Éponine.
Originally conceived to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Boublil and Schönberg’s Les Misérables, this arena spectacular promises a масштабed-up, cinematic experience — blending concert-style staging with theatrical storytelling. Since its premiere in 2024, the production has toured globally, selling over a million tickets and playing to packed venues across Europe and Asia.
Following record-breaking stops in cities like Manila, Shanghai, and Tokyo, the show’s Singapore run is set to be one of its most anticipated Southeast Asian legs before it heads to London’s Royal Albert Hall and New York’s Radio City Music Hall.
