Leading London saxophonist Nubya Garcia to perform in Singapore

[UPDATE, 17 May: this piece has been amended to reflect that Nubya Garcia performed with Gilles Peterson at Sing Jazz 2017, not Zara McFarlane.]

Nubya Garcia is returning to Singapore.

The London-based saxophonist will perform at Kilo Lounge this June in yet another collaboration between the venue and promoter Collective Minds, who helped program Sing Jazz 2018 and have also booked acts such as Daniel Caesar, Mount Kimbie and Shigeto. Garcia performed at Sing Jazz last year with Gilles Peterson.

Garcia has been named one to watch amongst the musicians leading a jazz resurgence in London. A graduate of the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, she's performed as part of the Theon Cross Trio, six-piece group Maisha, and the Nérija septet.

She's worked with the likes of legendary jungle producer Congo Natty and electronic musician Floating Points, who mentored her for her latest EP, When We Are, released March this year. Her last full-length album, Nubya's 5ive, was released last year on UK label jazz re:freshed.

Nubya Garcia will perform at Kilo Lounge on Tuesday, 5 June. Doors open at 9pm. Early bird tickets priced at $25 and advance tickets priced $35 are available here.
