LISTEN: Lust serves up oddball psych-pop goodness with EP, chingichanga

Malaysia's Lust certainly takes cues from different sources, but just like the album cover (which seems like an obvious nod to Battles' La Di Da Di), chingichanga is a colourful, offbeat debut, brimming with personality from a band we know little about.

At once conjuring a psychedelic freak out on the appropriately-titled 'Psychokillah', while sorting out freakish melodies all over the first three tracks, smothering them in deranged pop structures, and ending off with a groovy and euphoric closer in 'Clapsong', chingichanga pulls out many surprises throughout its 22-minute runtime.
