I don't know who made psychedelic folk a thing, but I'm glad they did.
It carved out spaces for, say, Parallelograms and Wee Tams. And now Bandung-based singer-songwriter, Haikal Azizi, has readied an entry for this rich body of music by way of his solo project, Bin Idris.
'Dalam Wangi,' the first track off his self-titled record (to be released by Orange Cliff Records in November) nails the basics -- hazy guitar work, pastoral lyrics, ghastly multi-tracked vocals. It's different from Haikal's other project, Sigmun, who worships at the altar of the Black Sabbaths of modern music, and put out a great record last year.
