London house legend Mr. G pays tribute to Singapore on his forthcoming Temasek EP

Formerly part of the famous KCC Sound System and one half of ferocious techno outfit The Advent, Colin McBean aka Mr. G has since spent the better part of the last couple of decades paving his own way in the 4/4 wilderness to astonishing effect. His label Phoenix G has reliably served as the base for his new sample-heavy house sound, allowing him to refine his unique brand of analogue, bass-heavy, tech-funk in recent times.

Outstanding remixes for the likes of Ms. Kittin, Ben Sims and Josh Wink kept his followers satiated during his nascent years as a solo artist, but his real re-introduction into the limelight came with the unveiling of his universally beloved 2010 LP, Still Here (Get On Down). Put out via monster house/techno imprint Rekids, that return album was the definitive document proving that Mr. G was still at the top of his game. And ever since then, he's been ridiculously prolific with drops on Running Back, Don't Be Afraid and Toi Toi Musik (among others).

Keeping up with his recent run of fine form, Mr. G is now set to unleash a brand new EP called Temasek via Singapore-based label Midnight Shift. As its name implies, this three-track release is an ode to his time in Singapore, inspired by his memorable set in kyo last November.

With tracks titles like 'Pan Pacific' (the hotel he stayed in), '"28" Zombie Version' (a reference to bespoke cocktail bar 28 Hong Kong Street) and 'Black Pepper Crab', you can tell that his brief stint in the Lion City made quite a large impression on him. While people tend to remember their trips with Facebook albums, Mr. G has gone a step further by documenting his excursion here within a three-track EP.

The release is part of Midnight Shift's White Series and will be available on 6 June 2016 via MNS. In the meantime, you can preview the EP below.
