Lyric founder Severo “Lolo Berong” Panganiban passes away at 94

Severo Panganiban, founder and Chairman of the Board of Lyric, has passed away. He was 94.

On Tuesday (06/01), the Philippine-based musical instrument retail chain announced on social media the passing of its founder. The cause of death of Panganiban, who was also known as "Lolo Berong", was not disclosed.

"Up until early 2020, Lolo Berong would be in the Lyric Horseshoe branch daily, a quiet gentle presence amidst the flurry of activities, and was beloved by all. We will miss you dearly, Lolo Berong. Thank you for all that you made, and all that you were," the announcement reads.

Lyric was established as Lyric Piano in 1964 and started out as a supplier of parts and accessories to piano manufacturers. The company soon manufactured its own pianos for the local market in 1968. Lyric has since grown to offer more musical instruments and pro-audio products from Yamaha, Peavey, PRS, Harman, Nord, DW Drums, and more.
