Jay Chou has dropped Children of the Sun, his 16th studio album and first full-length release in over three years. The new record features 13 tracks in total, including 12 new songs and the bonus track 'Christmas Star', marking another major entry in the Mandopop icon’s catalogue.

At the centre of the album is its title track, Children of the Sun, which arrives alongside a nearly seven-minute cinematic music video. Shot at Chapelle Sainte-Jeanne-d’Arc in Paris, the visual blends animation, large-scale set design, and dramatic lighting to match the album’s sweeping atmosphere.

On Children of the Sun, Jay Chou stays rooted in the sound that made him a Mandopop mainstay while widening its scope across 13 tracks that build towards a more immersive, narrative-driven listen. Warmth and grandeur run through the album’s world, giving it the kind of scale and polish that has long defined his place in Mandopop.

The album’s title also comes with a personal story. The phrase “Children of the Sun” was originally coined by Jacky Cheung during Chou’s Hong Kong concerts in 2023, before eventually becoming the name of this release — one that is framed as a symbol of warmth, light, and creative energy.

For fans who have been waiting for his next full-length statement, Children of the Sun lands as a characteristically expansive release from one of Mandopop’s most enduring figures.
