mikah begins the first chapter of his three-part single project Homesick as he kicks off the series with his reflective single 'Escape'.
Following the release of 'Butterflies', which saw mikah collaborating with American music label 88rising, mikah returns with the same meaningful lyrics and introspective concept that sparks internal reflection and self-healing. Torn between chasing dreams and longing for home, mikah delves into the emotional tension between ambition and belonging.
mikah shares the story behind the track as he muses, “This song is based on my experiences in Hawaii. Joy, unhappiness, confusion—many emotions were tangled together back then. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted, but I knew that there had to be ‘something more.’ The title ‘Escape’ came from the feeling of longing to get out of a ‘place that’s comfortable but also ties you down.’ It’s not easy to leave the place where you grew up, but that’s the start of the journey to find your ‘true self.’”
Blending R&B grooves, indie pop clarity, and alt-rock textures, 'Escape' gives listeners a sense of refuge with its delicate lyrics and soothing vocals, encouraging listeners to join mikah on a journey of introspection and growth to be someone outside of their comfort zone.
