Moonstar88 celebrated a career-defining milestone with Moonstar88: 25 Years of Torete, held at Eton Centris. Presented by Eton Centris and Soupstar Music, the special show paid homage to the pop-rock trio’s enduring legacy—anchored by their timeless hit ‘Torete’.
Composed of Maysh Baay, Bon Sundiang, and Herbert Hernandez, Moonstar88 revisited their iconic catalog in a set that blended fan favourites with deep cuts. First released in 2000 on their debut album Popcorn, ‘Torete’ has become a touchstone for generations of OPM fans.
“‘Torete’ was born out of raw, unfiltered emotion—and maybe that’s why people keep coming back to it,” shared Hernandez. “It's a song that doesn't pretend.”
“Songs are like people: they grow deeper with time,” Baay added. “From college gigs to major stages, from heartbreaks to healing—we carry all that each time we play it.”
Adding a bold twist to their signature sound, Moonstar88 teamed up with Jonathan Cruz and the Metro Manila Concert Orchestra to reimagine nearly half the setlist with lush string and brass arrangements—an idea sparked by their 2022 EP Strings Attached.
“This marks a new chapter for us,” said Hernandez. “We’ve always wanted to share this experience live—where the emotion in our music rises and expands with every note.”
