There's no stopping the Hallyu wave.

At the Content Marketing Summit 2022 held in South Korea last Tuesday (23/09), YeonJeong Kim, Head of Global K-pop and K-content Partnerships at Twitter, revealed that Tweets about K-content increased 546% in the last decade.

This year, South Korea, Thailand, and the US topped the list of countries tweeting the most about K-content - from K-pop to K-dramas to K-films. The Philippines, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Brazil, Japan, and the UK wrap up the Top 10.

7.8 billion Tweets about K-pop dominated Twitter in 2021, breaking the previous record of 6.7 billion Tweets in 2020. 

Numerous K-pop stars have crossed over to acting, making appearances in K-dramas and K-movies, as well as participating in drama soundtracks.

Lee Ji-eun, who performs under her stage name IU, starred in the critically acclaimed film, Broker, while Kim Sejeong of Gugudan took the lead in Netflix drama, Business Proposal. BLACKPINK's Jisoo starred opposite Jung Hae In in Snowdrop, and 2PM members Ok Taecyeon and Lee Junho featured in Hansan and The Red Sleeve respectively.

When OST 'Christmas Tree' by V of BTS was released, K-drama Our Beloved Summer recorded the most number of Tweets in a single day.
