The title 'Cegil' comes from a term that was popularised on TikTok, being a combination of the words “Cewek Gila”, describing a girl who is hopelessly in love with someone, constantly thinking about them and hoping they would just glance her way. It captures the slight aloofness that comes with falling in love, throwing all caution to the wind, and being caught up in thoughts about the specific person all the time.
“In short, this girl just wants to be with this one guy because she loves him that much. She’s already deeply in love, so she really hopes he’ll be with her forever. Sometimes when you’re in love, you can’t deny that you start thinking, ‘I have to end up with this person,’” Nabila shares.
Having written the lyrics alongside S/EEK, she hopes that the narrative that she created based on 'Cegil' does justice for the character she hopes to portray on the track. The vibrant and bright pop sound that the track has shines through in the sonic textures and sweet yet relatable lyrics. “The lyrics are very light and simple. It’s a love story that many people can relate to, especially girls,” she explained.
Carrying the blissful and cheeky tone that the song exudes, the music video captures the essence of the track perfectly. Directed by Yopi Gunawan and Giri Maulana, the video heightens the listening experience as it was filmed in a beautiful, home-yard setting that mirrors the stunning melody. Nabila adds what she hopes for listeners to take away from the track, sharing, “I hope this song can represent the feelings and hopes of those who are experiencing the same thing in a romantic relationship.”
