Here's everything you need to know about NewJeans, ADOR's new girl group

There's a new girl group in town and they're as cool as it gets.

On 22 July, ADOR—an independent label powered by K-pop powerhouse HYBE, which is home to acts like BTS, SEVENTEEN, TXT, fromis_9, ENHYPEN, and more—unveiled their first-ever act: NewJeans. Taking their name from the everlasting nature of a pair of jeans, the five-membered act wants to be an icon for all generations, hoping their music can transcend time.

"Pop music is a culture that is very close to our daily life, so it is like the clothes we wear everyday. Just as jeans have withstood the test of time and found popularity among many regardless of their age and gender, NewJeans aspires to become an icon of generations—one you never grow tiresome of putting on," said ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin, who has been credited for pioneering some of K-pop's most iconic concepts, namely those by Red Velvet, Girls' Generation, f(x), and more.

BANDWAGON TV

Upon their debut where they unveiled their first single 'Attention' (with close to no warning, may we add), there were little to no details about NewJeans. No one knew their names, positions, and everything else you'd expect during a typical K-pop group debut, steering away from the usual hype built around a group before they're officially introduced to the world. It's a move that's hasn't been seen before, setting new expectations for the group and ADOR.

NewJeans are set to debut this August, with the digital release of their first EP on 1 August. Before then, here's everything you need to know about the new girl group.

Members

NewJeans comprise five members: Hanni, Minji, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, who all are said to add to the group's unique colour and sound.

'Attention'

'Attention' serves as NewJeans' first single. Taking on a nostalgic R&B sound with some sprinkle of classic K-pop, the track is a refreshing anthem for the summer.

'Hype Boy'

'Hype Boy' is an undeniably interesting one. Serving as the world's first-ever introduction to the members and their names, 'Hype Boy' features four separate music videos with four different storylines starring each of them. It's a unique entry point, one that has you immediately intrigued, into the world of NewJeans and what lies ahead.

'Hurt'

As the third song from their upcoming debut record, NewJeans unveiled 'Hurt', a sweet ballad about being scared of falling in love. It veers away from the hyped-up and energetic sound we've heard from the group and adds a new sonic layer to the highly anticipated act.

'Cookie'

'Cookie' is the last song from their four-track EP. The track's music video is slated for release on 1 August at 6 PM KST, alongside the digital release of the record.

Phoning

As part of NewJeans' pre-debut promotions, ADOR has launched a mobile app specifically dedicated for the group to communicate with their fans named Phoning

Developed with the idea that NewJeans and their fans share one phone, the app allows the group to share their daily lives with their fans and vice versa, with the vision of NewJeans growing up alongside their community and form a friendship that go beyond artist and fan.

Phoning features live chat, photo sharing, and calendar functions that help NewJeans communicate with their "best friends". The app is available for download via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Fansign

NewJeans will be holding a video fansign following the release of their self-titled debut EP. To win a chance to enter the fansign, fans must pre-order NewJeans from 25 July 11 AM to 31 July 11:59 PM KST via Weverse Shop and submit it via Phoning

Album

NewJeans' self-titled debut EP will come in three versions: Bag, which includes a physical bag in three colour colourways, Bluebook, which comes in six different variations and takes on the style of a school slam book, and Weverse Album, which can be listened to via the Weverse Albums app.

All versions of NewJeans are available for pre-order via Weverse Shop
