NewJeans have returned with a surprise film series celebrating their fourth debut anniversary on 22 July, but Danielle’s absence from the release has reignited discussion among fans.
Released after months of limited group activity, the newly filmed content features Minji, Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein in a collection of group and individual videos. It marks the first official content featuring the four members together in two years, following Supernatural.
Set beneath a moonlit summer sky, the group film sees the members gradually enter the frame before holding hands and looking towards the same distant point. Four solo stories also feature references to Bunnies, with bunny-shaped objects and fleeting white silhouettes appearing throughout the dreamlike visuals.
While the release drew millions of views and likes within hours, some fans expressed disappointment over Danielle being left out. Supporters shared the slogan “NewJeans is five”, with one fan writing: “You can’t have a rainbow without the sun.”

ADOR previously announced that it had terminated Danielle’s contract, accusing her of undertaking independent entertainment activities. Danielle and the agency remain involved in a legal dispute.
As the anniversary content arrived, Danielle shared a separate update featuring new photos and a message to fans: “Life gets cloudy sometimes, but the light always finds its way back in. Until then, keep shining.”

ADOR described the films as commemorative content created for fans, adding that NewJeans’ future activity plans will be announced once discussions with the members are complete.
