Beyond making waves in music with her unbeatable artistry as both a solo artist and as one quarter of BLACKPINK, JENNIE's massive influence makes a splash in the world of aquatics and biology.

A postgraduate student, Jiangyan Tian from Sun Yat-sen University, made a monumental discovery of a new fish species in Hengqin Island, Guangdong Province known as the Bumblebee Goby. Tian then decided to give it the name Brachygobius Jennie sp. nov. after citing in a peer-reviewed paper that JENNIE's music motivated him throughout her research that led to the discovery of the fish, saying, "Listening to the songs of Jennie Ruby Jane during my studies was a constant source of inspiration. Naming this species after her is my way of acknowledging the positive influence she had on my work."

Being the first of its kind, the tiny nine millimetre fish sports black and yellow striped scales that give it a bold appearance. This once-in-a-lifetime breakthrough and the role JENNIE's music played in making it possible showcase her extraordinary influence as an artist, reaching beyond borders, genres, and the confines of the music industry.
