NIKI has finally made her NPR Tiny Desk debut.

On 31 May, NPR Music released the latest installment of its famed concert series, which features the Indonesian singer-songwriter, as part of its efforts to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month.

Recorded at NPR Music's office in Washington D.C., the 88rising artist's Tiny Desk concert begins with a heartbreaking live reimagination of 'Backburner', a track that she regards as her favourite from her 2022 album Nicole

Supported by a live band made up of Jacob Ray (percussions, effects, guitar, and music director), Kim Vi (keys, guitar, and vocals), Edison Lo (bass and vocals), Fer Fuentes (drums), Andrea Ferrero (guitar, toy piano, and vocals), and Desiree Hazley (violin and vocals), the 24-year-old then trades her guitar for a piano to grieve the "loss of an unlived life with someone" in 'The Apartment We Won't Share'.

After bringing out another tear-jerker in the form of her penultimate song 'Before', NIKI wraps up her 19-minute set with a sunny performance of her hit single from the soundtrack of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, 'Every Summertime'.

"[I'm] super stoked and honored to be here. Tiny Desks have inspired me many times over. I'm sure I can speak for a lot of artists on that. Thank you for that, I'm just very grateful to play this music for you," says NIKI in the concert video, which was uploaded to NPR Music's YouTube channel.

In May this year, the 'High School in Jakarta' act launched her first live album Live at The Wiltern, which was recorded during her concert at the iconic performance venue in Los Angeles. NIKI is now preparing to hit the road again for her NICOLE WORLD TOUR, which will take her to cities such as Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta, Paris, Sydney, and Chicago, and see her perform as part of the 88rising contingent at the 2023 Formula One Singapore Grand Prix.
