Filipino alternative rock act Novacain is back with a special live EP titled Patago-tago, dumudugo (Recall Sessions), marking the band’s latest multi-song release recorded live.
The five-track EP follows the band’s earlier Control Recall Sessions released in 2022 and features live versions of songs from their debut double EP Patago-tago, dumudugo, which originally arrived in 2025.
Vocalist and guitarist Lawrence Del Rosario, expresses how capturing the energy of a live performance was central to the project as he shares, “As fans of live concerts and live gigs, we also want to have our own live versions of our songs and, for me, that experience with live music is really something else compared to a song’s album version.”

The band’s "Recall Sessions" concept originally began as a DIY effort to celebrate their releases, starting with live recordings of songs from their 2021 full-length album Control. For the new EP, however, Novacain decided to elevate the process by working with engineer and drummer Hannah Jabla of This Is Where I Make Music, who handled the recording and engineering of the release. The collaboration helped the band capture higher-quality live versions of their tracks, particularly when it came to the drum sound.
The EP includes five live-recorded tracks: 'Cine - Recall Sessions', 'Pusta - Recall Sessions', 'Friendzoned Land - Recall Sessions', 'Binhi - Recall Sessions', and 'Dati-rati - Recall Sessions'.
The release also marks an important milestone for the group, as it is their first-ever project under ONErpm Philippines. Del Rosario expressed the band’s gratitude for the partnership, noting that it represents a significant opportunity to further grow their community of listeners.
In addition to the digital release, Novacain will also be putting out CDs of both Patago-tago, dumudugo (Recall Sessions) and the original Patago-tago, dumudugo EP. The physical copies, DIY-ed by the band themselves, will be available at upcoming Novacain gigs. Bassist Kyle Enriquez explained that the decision was rooted in their appreciation for both physical media and live music, which they see as part of the intimate experience of listening to music.
Ultimately, the band hopes the EP encourages more listeners to experience music in a live setting. Del Rosario shared that promoting the beauty of live music feels especially important at a time when AI-generated music has become increasingly prevalent, encouraging fans to listen to and watch music in person as a way of supporting artists.
