OMEGA X are back, stronger, bolder, and more daring as they break the boundaries of genre with their fourth mini album UNCAPPED. They test the limits of their artistry as the release sees them branching out of their usual music genres to create an album that depicts their artistic evolution.
The UNCAPPED era has drawn fans into the creative process as they were given the chance to contribute toward major decisions such as the title track and deciding the unit group composition for songs such as 'Close to Me' and 'Cork.' The album is also a new beginning for X and the members as it sees them exploring their talents. JAEHAN, YECHAN, and XEN played the roles of lyricists and composers across the mini album, with JAEHAN and YECHAN contributing to all five tracks and XEN involved in three.
JAEHAN opens up about what UNCAPPED means to them as he shares, "Hello, this is Jaehan of OMEGA X. First of all, I would like to sincerely thank all the fans who have been waiting for OMEGA X’s new album. During our hiatus of more than two years, we also longed to return and greet you with new music. As much as you waited for us, we wanted to bring you even better songs, and we poured that sincerity into this album. I believe music has the power to be a source of strength for some people and comfort for others. This album reflects the stories and emotions we wanted to share, and I hope many listeners will be able to connect with it and find something meaningful in it. At the heart of the album is the title track 'UNCAPPED', an anthem that depicts the thrill of freedom. The addictive Afrobeat-inspired energy of the song blends with the empowering lyrics that say, "Rumble Open it up, uncap, i’m ready, go make some ruckus,” encouraging listeners to live life to the limit, chasing the high of self-expression and spreading their wings. The music video that accompanies the track blends the edgy and cool image of the group as they run through abandoned hallways and pull out their killer dance moves with an unfaltering precision.
The album bursts to life with the thumping UK garage beats of 'Day Zero', an empowering and positive take on starting from scratch, looking at it as a form of reinvention and rebirth. Following the title track is the third song on the tracklist, 'Close to me'. Written, produced, and performed by JAEHAN, XEN, and YECHAN, the track delivers the heartfelt message of love and acceptance transcending differences.
Keeping the momentum of sub-unit tracks going, HWICHAN, SEBIN, KEVIN, and JEHYUN dig deep in 'Cork' as they debut a more mature taste of their artistry, using the imagery of well-aged wine. The album closes with 'Life Detox,' an alternative pop track that challenges the idea of a “perfect detox,” and instead embraces the freedom that comes from letting go and going with the flow.
With their last EP To. having come out in 2024, YECHAN expresses his gratitude to fans for their continued support over the last two years as he muses, "Making a comeback as OMEGA X after such a long time feels especially meaningful to me. For this album, we tried to naturally incorporate the growth, experiences, and efforts we’ve accumulated over the years. I hope listeners can see those changes in a positive light and feel how much we’ve evolved through our music."
