Forests are making their way around the region this year, and their first stop was the City of Smiles.

On 14 August, the Singaporean emo trio took over the Brownstone in Bangkok, marking their first live performance in Thailand.

After the release of their critically acclaimed album Get In Losers, We're Going To Eternal Damnation, the band has been playing a series of shows including a "FUN RAISER" for Esplanade's Mosaic Music Series, as well as their metaverse debut at the Bandwagon Pixel Party.

With Bangkok as the jumpoff point, Niki, Darell, and Daniel are set to visit more cities later this year for their Southeast Asia Weekender 2022 tour with stops in Jakarta, Tangerang, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, and Kuching.

In this edition of On The Road, , the 'Tamago' act takes us throuh their memorable Bangkok stint – from their favourite food finds to reconnecting with old friends, running into their doppelgängers and their own music recommendations from Thailand.

The venue, Brownstone is a magical place. They house a recording studio at the back of the venue, with all the rare and vintage equipment, something like the Kribo Records of Bangkok. They also have a lot of art sculptures and pieces scattered all around the venue, I believe they host art events apart from shows there too.

The green room was literally green.

Everyone at the show was very nice and friendly. The organizers also provided a whole fridge full of Thai and craft beers.

Shoutout to Krit (Wildest Youth) and Numan (numan.music, not pictured here)

[This is the] food store across the street from where the venue was located at. Believed it was called Heng Hoi Tod Chaw Lae.

Their signature oyster omelet with cheese lmao

Authentic Thai mookata with new friends from the shows along the road after the show at 2 am.

In 2018, Darell befriended a Thai local who was asking for directions [when he was] in Singapore. Fast forwarding to 2022. Her boyfriend told her about Forests since we were going to Bangkok for the first time. She then told her boyfriend how she bumped into Darell and how they became friends in 2018.

TL;DR they came to the forests show together and we finally met up again….Funny how music can reconnect people :’)

Taking the 'songthaew' (Thai pickup truck public transport) after our soundcheck to a nearby mall that had a raccoon pet cafe. WILD.

Individualist's guitarist looks like Daniel Lim.

Buying a water gun from a second-hand store for THB 50 (SGD 2) but also finding out that it doesn’t work.
