ONE OK ROCK concerts in Hong Kong cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances”

Fans of ONE OK ROCK in Hong Kong will have to hold tight a little longer. The Japanese rock band’s two upcoming shows in the city have officially been cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

The gigs were originally scheduled for 2 May and 3 May at Central Harbourfront Event Space. In a statement shared on Instagram, Live Nation Hong Kong said the decision was made due to reasons “outside the control of the artist and the organizer”.

“Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, these issues could not be resolved, and the shows can no longer go ahead,” the organiser wrote, while also sharing refund details for ticketholders.

The cancellation comes amid a wider run of disrupted events involving Japanese artists across China. ONE OK ROCK’s Shanghai stop, which had been set for 9 May, was also previously called off.

This follows a startling incident last November when over a dozen concerts involving Japanese musicians in major Chinese cities were cancelled within the span of a week. Artists reportedly affected included Ayumi Hamasaki, Maki Otsuki, and Hiromi Uehara, with some events said to have been halted abruptly during sound checks.

The latest update also lands at a notable moment for Hong Kong, as the city continues to position itself as a major live entertainment hub. At the time of writing, Live Nation Hong Kong has apologised to fans and confirmed that ticket refunds will be arranged.
