pami explores why knowing better doesn’t always mean walking away on her latest single, ‘loser’.
Released on 30 September, the Thai singer-songwriter’s track follows someone caught in an on-and-off situationship, choosing an unfulfilling connection over the prospect of being alone. Feelings linger even when commitment remains elusive, leaving its protagonist willing to accept another disappointment just to keep someone close.
Co-written by pami and Jett Blyton, with production by Maribelle, ‘loser’ took shape at a songwriting camp in Australia. Its demo was written and produced in a single day, following a conversation between the songwriters about their own experiences of unhealthy and disappointing relationships.
That shared experience informs the song’s central dilemma: recognising a hurtful pattern can be easier than finding the resolve to leave it. Through its story of teenage romance, ‘loser’ examines the gap between wanting genuine affection and settling for what is available.
Hailing from Phuket, pami works across bedroom pop and indie, pairing personal storytelling with atmospheric melodies. She debuted under Juicey in 2024 and released her first full-length album, puffette, the following year. Her catalogue includes ‘pity dirty’, ‘kiss me blue’, and this year’s ‘cry jar’ and ‘all in’.
