After 16 years of unforgettable storytelling, Pangdemonium Theatre Company will take its final bow at the end of its 2026 season, co-founders Adrian Pang and Tracie Pang announced in a heartfelt statement on 2 February.
Founded in 2010, the Singaporean theatre company has grown from a humble, family-run startup into a bold creative force, known for its emotionally charged productions and commitment to stories that are “challenging, inspiring, relevant, accessible” – and always high in impact and quality.
"An ass-kicking adventure in theatre"
Driven by a mission to stir hearts and minds, Pangdemonium built a reputation for blending global and local narratives, adapting international texts to Singaporean contexts and nurturing original commissions. They also pioneered the idea of an annual season with a subscription model — the first of its kind in Singapore theatre.
Notably, they championed the next generation of theatre-makers through youth mentorships across performance, writing, stage management and production.
“We have done our best to take people on ‘ass-kicking adventures in theatre,’ and that has given us the most gratification, purpose and joy,” the Pangs wrote.

Why now?
While the duo's passion remains strong, the challenges of sustaining live theatre in a changing world — from pandemic disruptions and rising production costs to shifting audience habits — have made the road ahead increasingly complex.
Following deep deliberation with their board, they’ve chosen to close Pangdemonium “on a grace note, and while we are still in love” with what they’ve built.
What's next?
The Pangs emphasised that the decision was personal and not driven by any external pressures. They expressed profound gratitude to audiences, artists, donors, government bodies, and every collaborator who helped bring Pangdemonium’s vision to life over the years.
“It has been an absolute honour,” they shared. “Thank you for an ass-kicking adventure and for the opportunity to create some pan(g)demonium”.
As the company enters its final act, one thing’s for sure — the legacy of Pangdemonium will continue to echo through Singapore’s theatre scene for years to come.
UPDATE:
Low Eng Teong, Chief Executive of the National Arts Council (NAC), has issued a statement acknowledging the closure and reaffirming the Council’s continued support:
“We met and held open discussions with Pangdemonium to explore its continuation. Ultimately, we respect the decision by Adrian and Tracie Pang to cease operations of Pangdemonium at the end of 2026 for personal reasons.
The National Arts Council has proudly supported Pangdemonium since 2017 as it grew into a financially sound and critically acclaimed theatre company in Singapore. Our support of Pangdemonium remains steadfast, and our collective focus now is on a smooth transition. We will actively match affected staff with new career opportunities to keep their expertise within the sector.
While Pangdemonium concludes this chapter at the height of its success, its legacy of excellence endures. We invite everyone to celebrate the company’s final season and thank Adrian and Tracie for their immense contribution to our cultural landscape.”
