Peemaï are touring to Asia this June with their vibrant Gaga Gundul tour, spotlighting their genre-bending blend of traditional Southeast Asian sounds, electric grooves, and adventurous jazz.

Kicking off at the iconic Rainforest World Music Festival on 20 and 22 June, the French quartet will be joined by Javanese collective Gayam 16, performing the collaborative repertoire from their latest album Gaga Gundul, released in April 2024. The album, which fuses Javanese gamelan rhythms with electric jazz, is the result of years of cultural exchange and musical experimentation.

Peemaï’s sound is a joyful collision of molam, Javanese gamelan, electric jazz, and rock textures — think Coltrane meets Hendrix in a Southeast Asian village. Their line-up features Hugues Mayot (sax), Alfred Vilayleck (electric bass), Gilles Coronado (electric guitar), and Maxime Rouayroux (drums), blending heady improvisation with deep rhythmic roots.

This tour also previews their next creative chapter: Electric Mekong — a new project tracing musical inspirations along the Mekong River, with Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia in their sights.

Catch them live for a high-voltage celebration of rhythm, culture, and sonic exploration.
