Viral hitmaker PIKOTARO is back with a nationwide bang — and this time, he’s singing his way across Japan.

In celebration of the upcoming 10th anniversary of ‘PPAP (Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen)’, the global comedy-pop sensation has launched ‘Tottemo Release 80.8 (06)’, the sixth entry in his ongoing mega-project Tottemo Release 80.8. But what sets this one apart? It’s the official start of his boldest musical experiment yet: the “Prefecture Song” series.

PIKOTARO’s goal? To turn Japan into a jukebox, capturing all 47 prefectures in his signature sound — quirky, genre-blurring, and unmistakably “pico!”

The project opens with ‘TO-DO-FU-KEN! (Opening Song)’ before diving into an energetic rollout of tracks dedicated to Hokkaido, Aomori, Akita, Iwate, Fukushima, Miyagi, and Yamagata. Expect everything from drum & bass to city pop and anime-inspired anthems — each prefecture gets its own sonic flavour.

“This became another project within Tottemo Release 80.8,” says producer Kosaka Daimaou, hinting at even bigger plans ahead, including international collabs. “We want to sing these songs all across Japan – and eventually, the world.”

PIKOTARO, in classic fashion, keeps it simple: “I just suddenly felt like singing the names of every prefecture across Japan – pico!”

Tottemo Release 80.8 runs from August 2025 to July 2026, with 80.8 tracks (yes, you read that right) planned for release. With this latest instalment, PIKOTARO shows he’s still full of surprises — and catchy choruses.
