The Pokémon World Championships will make its Singapore debut from 13 to 15 August, bringing some of the world's top competitive Pokémon players together for three days of battles.
The annual tournament will take place at Singapore EXPO, before culminating in Championship Sunday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The news was revealed during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco on 30 August. The upcoming edition will mark the first time Singapore hosts the global competition.

Considered the pinnacle of competitive Pokémon play, the Pokémon World Championships sees players from around the world compete for World Champion titles, prizes, and other rewards across games including the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Pokémon Video Game Championships, and Pokémon GO.
This year's Pokémon World Championships also came with a musical surprise courtesy of Ed Sheeran.
The British singer-songwriter made a surprise appearance during the tournament's finale, performing one of his own songs before treating fans to the theme song from the original Pokémon anime.

Sheeran is no stranger to the world of Pokémon. A longtime fan of the franchise, the singer has collaborated with Pokémon over the years through commercials, music videos, and games.
His latest appearance added a fitting musical moment to the festivities as the Pokémon World Championships prepares to head to Singapore for its next edition.
The Singapore reveal was one of several announcements made during the championships.

An animated feature-length movie, Pokémon: Wild Card, is slated for release in early 2027, while Z Mega Evolutions — special powered-up upgrades for battles — will arrive in Pokémon Champions from 9 September.
